The Pinewood Derby is one of the most exciting events in Cub Scouts! Each year, our Scouts design, build, and race their own wooden cars down a sloped track, competing for speed and creativity awards. Itβs a great way to learn about sportsmanship, craftsmanship, and friendly competition.

Each car will race in multiple heats across all 4 lanes. The average time from all heats will determine the final rankings. We will drop the lowest time from each carβs set of heats before calculating the average.
If a car does not make it across the finish line, it will be assigned a time of 10 seconds for that heat.
After all heats, the top 2 cars from each den will advance to the finals.
In the finals, the cars will race in additional heats, and the top 3 fastest cars (based on average times, after dropping the lowest time) will win the grand prize.
This method ensures fairness and gives each car an equal chance to compete.
